1. Click Start Menu icon and select Settings. 2. From the sub-menu that appears, select Dial-Up Networking.
3. Inside the Dial-Up Networking window, double-click the Make New Connection icon.
4. A new window titled Welcome to Dial-Up Networking will appear. 5. Click the Next button.
6. Inside the box located underneath the text line "Type a name for the computer you are dialing:" type in a Connection Name. 7. Next, select your modem from the menu located under the text line Select a device: 8. Click the Next button.
9. Type the dial-up number in telephone number field. 10. Click the Next button.
11. A confirmation screen will appear showing the name you gave your dial-up connection (Connection Name). 12. To finish the Dial-Up Networking Wizard, click the Finish button.
13. Right-click on the Connection icon for the dial-up connection you just created. 14. Click on Properties from the drop-down menu. 15. Remove the check in front of Use area code and Dialing Properties. 16. Click on the Networking tab.
17. Under Advanced options: the only item that should be selected is Enable software compression. 18. Under Allowed network protocols: the only item that should be selected is TCP/IP. 19. Click on the TCP/IP Settings... button.
20. In the first section, Server assigned IP address should be selected. 21. In the second section, select Specify name server addresses and enter the following: 22. Both Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote network should be checked. 23. Click on OK to save changes.
24. Click on OK again. 25. At the Dial-Up Networking window right-click on the Connection icon and click on Create Shortcut. 26. Click on Yes to put shortcut on the desktop.
27. Get back to your desktop and double click on the Shortcut to Connection icon. 28. In the User name field, enter the Username. 29. In the Password field, enter password. 30. Check the Save password field. 31. Click the Connect button to have your computer dial in.
